We have all come to a point in our lives where we have felt like we've reached our breaking point. Where we've felt like we couldn't take another set back or failure. Life sometimes throws stones at us with the expectation of either catching them or getting hit with them. Either way they hurt right?
What can we do to find peace within ourselves to overcome getting hit so hard? How do we pick ourselves back up? Finding peace within yourself is so important in order to overcome boundaries and obstacles. You are not alone. We all experience this.
The amazing, inspirational Ayana Iman (IG: @ayanaiman) shared some of her personal experiences with us finding peace within herself when faced with hard times.
What are some ways, and things you do, to find peace within yourself?
Honestly, whenever possible, I take a walk in nature and allow myself to be one with my thoughts. I'm a firm believer that the sun rejuvenates our spirits and gives us energy. My solitude, nature, and prayer, are necessary tools for peace.
How has it helped you emotionally, spiritually, and physically?
My peace cultivating methods have helped me align my beliefs systems, with my actions. In order for me to use my maximum potential, there must be balance, less chaos, and less inner noise. When I am trying to address any issues, I am emotionally aware, spiritually connected, and physically ready to handle such tasks. These methods help with preparation. I need to affirm, "I can," and have faith, "it's possible".
What advice do you have for someone who is struggling with overcoming a boundary in their life?
For any challenge in your life, remember it's mostly mental. You have to accept you have the power to change your circumstances, and that it is already done. This means your current situation doesn't determine your outcome, and the life you want is possible, it is yours, you just have to take action to claim it. Write down everything, including your challenges, hopes, dreams, and wishes. Then affirm the challenges are over, and that your wishes have come true. Put them in a place you can see them everyday. Seeing them can motivate you to keep going. Faith is so important during these times, and you have to trust the process.
What have you done to better yourself emotionally when dealing with hard times?
I've learned to stop blaming others for my issues, and give myself room to fail. The blame game does nothing to promote growth, and only furthers the issue. However, owning up to my emotions and what caused them allows me time to reflect, and time to assess the situation without the fireworks. I can be angry, upset, or depressed, that's not the issue, I'm human. To better my emotions is accepting they're valid, but that I don't have to remain in that space. I can choose to move on and empower myself. Everything is a choice.
What is your favorite quote to live by?
One of my favorite quotes is my own: Affirmations without action produce no results.
This keeps me fired up. When I'm having a bad day, or want to chill when I should be working, I remember the life I've affirmed for myself, and what it takes to get there. Action is always the answer.

When was the last time you looked in the mirror and talked to yourself? Yes, it sounds crazy but a lot of people look at themselves in the mirror and hate their image. The journey towards personal growth and self-love starts with loving who you are and embracing your beauty inside and out.
Here are 3 amazing ways to self reflect.
1. Look in the mirror, and love the image you see.
I remember when I was growing up I use to stare at myself in the mirror and point out every flaw. Every pimple, every dark spot, and every hair out of place. I never took a moment to embrace my unique attributes that God blessed me with. Everyone is made differently and uniquely. We have to embrace what makes us unique. If you have high cheek bones, own it by adding a hint of blush. If you have nice big eyes, own it by adding some mascara to your eyelashes to really bring them out. Never hide what makes you, you. Embrace your attributes they were given to you for a reason.
2. Write, write, write
I don't know how many times I've said this but writing is so therapeutic. There were so many times that I wanted to send an angry text message to a friend or make a dramatic decision that writing stopped me from doing it. Expressing yourself through writing can give you a sense of who you are. When you have time today, write down 5 things you love about yourself, then write down 5 things you dislike about yourself. Compare the two and then self reflect on how you are going to change the dislikes into likes by the end of 2016. Seeing things on paper enables you to see what you think of yourself from a birds eye view.
3. Talk to your loved ones
OMG in my life group we got an assignment to ask someone who knows us the best to fill out a questionnaire about us. The questions ranged from what are some things you feel that I should improve on? What are my weaknesses? What are some goals I should strive for? Can you imagine your sister or your best friend answering these questions about you? You would feel like wow I never even realized that I needed to improve on those things. Sometimes when you hear it from someone you trust and love it's more eye opening. Ask your best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, parent, or sibling to answer those questions about you and you will be surprised to hear your results. Good self reflection can be guided by hearing suggested improvements from people we love.
Self reflection is critical in order to unleash the person hiding inside of you. When you realize who you are, and what you need to improve on, you realize your life's purpose on this earth.
