If you are going through a mental meltdown I am one to tell you, you are not alone. This world will make you go crazy. There's so many things around us that tell us what we are supposed to be and who to become. It's literally traumatizing. Especially with social media everyday we watch our friends get engaged, announce pregnancies, and post beautiful wedding photos while we sit at home in our bra with a carton of ice cream and wine watching re-runs of Love & Hip-Hop. We ask ourselves where did we go wrong? How can we be like her or him?
One thing I've learned over the course of the pass month and a half is that life does not happen the way YOU want it to. That is easy to say yet difficult to comprehend. It's easy to say yet difficult to marinate. As much as we wish we could control our lives, the people around us, and obtaining the things we want in life it will not happen the way we want it to. I am still struggling with saying that sentence and actually believing it. Like wait I really can't control when I will have kids and get married? Why not? I really can't apply to a job and get hired the next day? Why not? I really can't walk outside and see a man who fits my list of characteristics and marry him on the spot? Why not? Sigh... Life is so cruel *sad face* Life is really not cruel but don't you feel like sometimes it's not fair? In order for us to overcome this plateau we have to understand that life will continuously throw us curve balls. We will get hit by some of them and dodge some of them but in the end we will persevere. Once we realize that we have no control of our destiny we will start to LIVE for ourselves and not someone else. Living in the moment will make you feel alive. It will enable you to see life for what it is and what it cannot be. Live with no regrets, don't look back, and be risky. You will feel like a new person.
