Alyssa is a graduate of New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts where she studied film and television production. Alyssa has been active in all facets of storytelling whether it be through writing, directing, acting or producing. She has studied television production at the BBC in London, produced several student films, and can be found playing Joey Bada$$’s love interest in his latest music video, “Like Me.” Alyssa currently works as a production management coordinator for Viacom’s Music and Entertainment group where she assists with the execution of several Comedy Central’s web series and short form content—many of which have premiered on Snapchat’s discovery page. Alyssa ultimately aspires to create meaningful stories that will unite, uplift, and educate the black community through documentary filmmaking and narrative storytelling. Raised in Newark, Shirlyn Cesar was a theater kid that performed in a troupe called the 'Peppermint Players.' With them she was able to perform locally in elementary schools, colleges, and even a short run at NJPAC. In high school and into college, Shirlyn was the 'intern queen,' interning at the Mayor's Office of Film, a celebrity public relations firm, and Viacom's VH1. A Rutgers University graduate, Shirlyn received her bachlors degree in Communications and went on to receive her masters in Television, Radio, and Film at Syracuse University. It was there in a television production class, she and her fellow classmates developed "Limelight" a six-episode television series that won the 2010 College Television Award for Outstanding Narrative Series, the category's first appearance. She is a recipient of one of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation's Programs, and also went on to be selected for the Foundation's internship program that same year in the episodic series category working on AMC's "Mad Men." Those pivotal beginning moments provided Shirlyn the opportunity to move forward and work on such shows as 'Blue Bloods,' 'Daredevil,' and most recently 'Shades of Blue' on NBC. Shirlyn currently works to meet the unique needs of each show as assisting the producers in various strenuous production tasks.. She is currently working hard to lay the groundwork that will launch her to the next step of her career. Carroll has such an impactful story that has truly inspired me. Her captivating fun-loving personality with a kick of "tell it like it is" has made her a true pioneer in the production world. Shirea truly loves to motivate and inspire young professionals who are looking to get into the entertainment industry, and wants to be an example of a someone who did not get anything handed to her. Here is her story. Born and raised in Willingboro, NJ, Shirea L. Carroll has made a career in creating and executing memorable work. A career that began in 2005 at VIBE magazine as a fashion intern, has turned into a 12 year thriving career in entertainment journalism. In 2007 under the executive leadership of Danyel Smith, Carroll wrote her first published work for VIBE magazine, and went on later to write many major music and lifestyle features for AOL, Blackbook, theROOT.com, ESSENCE.com, Juicy Magazine, and most currently has led her to her position as Video Content Producer at VH1. While pursuing writing, Carroll began to immerse herself in hosting and producing in the world of video journalism. She has delivered everything from hard hitting interviews with rapper T.I. before going to jail, to comical red carpet moments with Tyler Perry, Trey Songz, Tyrese, and more. Pushing her aspirations for writing/producing for television even further, she has since created and produced comedic celebrity shorts for VIBE TV with the help celebrities such as Kevin Hart and Sean Paul, produced web shows for Juicy Magazine, guest starred on segments for BET, writes/hosts her ever highly popular webseries, "Reality Decomposed, and directs and hosts her documentary style series with the casts of Love & Hip Hop and Black Ink Crew. Carroll, plans on taking her aspirations and passion for creating and hosting video content to redefine "new media" to even more creative levels.
