Fearless diva Kenya Bryant captivated the world by never settling for anything or anyone. I was so inspired by Kenya's story because she is living proof to always follow your intuition and step out on faith no matter what. It is so difficult to tell someone to do that, but Kenya is proof that it is possible. Be true to yourself and everything will fall into place. Here is Kenya's story. My professional background is media marketing and advertising. I’m extremely passionate about girl’s leadership and empowering young people globally to achieve their full potential. I think it’s super important for women to take chances and to explore for themselves A handful of us spend so much time seeking approval and avoiding failure that we forget to let go of expectation, step out on faith, and start LIVING. I’ve struggled with this in my professional life. Having committed nearly four years to the media industry, I felt a strong lack of fulfillment in my work. I left my former advertising roles at ESSENCE as the Ad Sales Coordinator, and SiriusXM Radio as the Ad Sales Marketing Manager, eager to explore my passions for girl’s leadership and women/youth development. Newly funemployed, I’ve since moved to DC to get a taste of a new city and start fresh. My family and former colleagues supported my decision although none of them fully agreed with it or understood it. I’m grateful for every opportunity I’ve had that’s gotten me to this point of exploration. But following my heart and refusing to settle was probably the best thing I could’ve done. My goal is to empower young people globally to achieve their full potential. I’m currently transitioning my career towards these areas, and continuing to explore the intersection of business and social impact.
Something for young professionals to look into: StartingBloc Institute Fellow (2015) It's a 5-day institute centered around social impact and innovation. How can we fuse business principals for social good? It is a mixed crowd of social entrepreneurs, activists, business leaders etc. The fellowship kickstarted my transition into the social sector. Really great network as well! http://startingbloc.org/ Thank you Kenya for never settling for less and always being FEARLESS Follow Kenya's journey on her Instagram page at @Kenyalikethecountry
