Tahnia Hawkins is a rising entrepreneur most passionate about the wellness of others. After earning a masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, she quickly realized healing is more than just a clinical experience. "I believe the root to wellness is becoming holistically balanced (body, mind and spirit). During my many years of psychological study and never ending spiritual journey I have been led to the conclusion: human beings are powerful beyond measure and capable of more than what modern science can explain." Tahnia is the founder and CEO of The W.E.L.L Network (Women's Empowerment through Learning and Leadership) a women's empowerment networking non-profit organization that inspires women and girls to empower themselves while empowering one another. Tahnia was inspired by her appreciation for the amazing women she is surrounded by in her circle of friends, family and colleagues. Just having the opportunity of being in the presence of these women makes her feel empowered and inspired. Their light has always made her feel like she could take over the world because of the confidence, love and support they offered her. It’s a feeling she wishes for every girl to experience. “Sometimes I think we can get discouraged by people and our environment around us. It can be hard to focus and to believe in ourselves. I think when you have a solid support system and people who you can look to for resources, guidance and inspiration you become empowered. I think it’s even more powerful when the person looks like you or has shared some of your same experiences." The vision Tahnia has for The W.E.L.L Network is for it to be a network of women from one generation to the next, who come together on one common ground for a common purpose- to uplift, empower and to support one another. Tahnia wants both the women and young girls to go home feeling the sense of confidence they need to take over the world and to feel like they have the backing and support system of a network of women who believe in them.
Tahnia is also the creator of an organic aromatherapy based spa product line "The Art of Chi" which focuses on keeping individuals holistically sound in their everyday routine. Her products consist of all natural and plant-derived body scrubs, lotions, candles and much more. With her love for wellness and passion for growth, Tahnia hopes to bring individuals awareness of their own universal consciousness and ability to realize their inner power. Tahnia's favorite quote is one she learned while living in Ghana for two months. "Teach a boy child and you teach an individual teach a girl child and you teach a whole village." However, I am a recruiter by day and the Blogger being Myfreshmanyearoflife.com. I have always been interested in people's professional journey's especially their failure. As a society we tend to only focus on the ups and not so much on what experiences have brought people to achieve their best. The purpose behind my blog is embrace ones journey. The difference between college and “life” is that there’s no syllabus; there is no plan, and many of us are left with the daunting task of creating our own syllabi and formulating our own paths to success. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in International Studies from Fairleigh Dickinson University and later pursed my Masters in Public Relations from American University at 22. My first few months out of college I worked as a Communications Assistant for a non-profit organization and later switched my career into HR. My latest accomplishment have been being comfortable in my skin. I know it doesn't sound impressive but until you are comfortable with yourself you won’t be successful with what you’re doing career wise. With that being said I just ventured into the Vlogging world and I am very excited about it. Hopefully more of me can be on your computer screens giving advices and tips about career related topics. When I didn't step outside of my comfort zone, OMG! It HAUNTED me because I was worried about failing. For example my blog, that's something I have thought of doing for years. I kept making excuses and truth be told one night I woke up and said this is it I am not spending any sleepless nights worrying about " what happens if and all that jazz" and here we are two years later. : ). I am always moved when someone reaches out to me to let me know how an article inspired them.
My mind always has 1000 tabs open. So I am always thinking and working on projects. Lately I have been learning to go about them strategically, so yes there's new projects coming up, but I will keep it on the low low. However what ever it might be I will make sure I give it my best. My advice to everyone is whatever passion that makes you unique, quirky or weird pursue that wholeheartedly.
